State of the Union for October 21, 2016: Family Fridays

Good morning!
We invite you to join us on Friday, October 21, for our first FAMILY FRIDAY of the school year. As most of you know, during these times you are encouraged to accompany your child to the classroom at 8:30 and participate in classroom activities until 9:10. (You are also welcome to come for just a few minutes – any amount of time is fine).
We have had great success with this program over the years, and we’re looking forward to having you join us. All of our children benefit from having more adults to interact with, and our whole school community benefits from increased family involvement.
Family Friday will be followed by a PTO meeting in the Auditorium @ 9:15. Parents’ role in the classroom during FAMILY FRIDAYS depends on the grade level, the teacher’s instructions, and what you feel comfortable with. Because we want all children to benefit from this program, we ask that you spend time with a few children, not just your own child. And, of course, this is not a time to have individual parent-teacher conferences. This is a time when you can bring younger siblings with you. If you are not available, other relatives or caregivers are welcome.
We hope that you will be able to participate in our FAMILY FRIDAYS this year. Come for part of the time or all of the time, whatever fits into your schedule. Family Friday is a special time in our school, and we hope that you mark it on your calendars. I look forward to seeing many of you at Family Fridays throughout the year.
All best,
Donna
