Grade 6 Week of 11/21/16
This week, we are reviewing computation. Starting in December, we will begin our unit of study on geometry and then move right into algebra. Both of these units expect students to be fluent in all four operations with whole numbers, fractions and decimals. We are taking this short week to insure that all students have mastered these skills. We brainstormed together area’s where students felt they needed more practice.
Here is the list that we came up with as a class:
- Addition and subtraction algorithm (Students want to go back and review with decimals.)
- Multiplication and division algorithm (What kinds of mistakes so we make?)
- The four operations with fractions and mixed numbers (When do you need to find a common denominator again?)
- The order of operations
On Monday, November 28th, we will have a quiz on computation from the list above. (reminder on school loop)
