We’re delighted to announce our Workshops for this year’s Inventgenuity Festival. You can sign-up online now ($8.25 per workshop) for your child, aged 7 and up. Plus there are plenty of other cool things to do. See you next weekend.

Construct a spring-bodied self-portrait kinetic sculpture.

Fantastical Body Part Ink Prints
printingDream up Dragon snouts, Unicorn horns, Elf ears, Phoenix wings and make fantastical anatomical prints. Then we’ll join them all together to build one big crazy monster poster print.

fpocreaturesCrawling Creature Bots
Invent new life forms that skitter and crawl on table and floor. Using wire wrapping tools, you’ll create a battery “clip” to turn your creatures on/off by with a coin cell battery.

flowerhandswebLED Night Blooms
Turn plastic bags into colorful flowers that shine in the dark. Using photo-resistors and LEDs, you’ll make a glowing wearable button or badge for jacket or backpack.

Using the techniques of artist Claes Oldenburg as a starting point, tranform tissue paper, glue and cardboard into your own version of one of living matter’s building blocks.

Build a handy electronic device using acrylic, batteries and LEDs that measures conductivity in soil, dough or anywhere dryness is the enemy. Never again let a plant die or bite into a stale pastry!

The sawdust will fly as you design, cut-out and assemble a planter shaped like your favorite pet. Actual plant included!

GREAT FREE DROP-IN ACTIVITIES

This year’s Festival Project, the WIND FARM, is an inflatable garden installation of pneumatically-enhanced agriculture. Kids will design, cut and sew their own textile-based plants brought to life by a hand-cranked (and hand-built) impeller fan. Participation in the project is free as are demonstrations that will include Indie Arcade Games from DBA Arcade Cabinets, Paper Airplane Launching by Nerdy Derby, and Glue Gun Sculpture by Gerb’s Garage.
