102, Scholastic + MCNY Chaperones

Dear Families,

Today is the last day to submit January Scholastic book orders. In blue home folders today, you will also be receiving the February Scholastic magazines with great 1st/2nd grade books, books about nonfiction topics, books about diversity, holidays, characters, friendship, feelings, science, technology, fairytales, adventures, mysteries and humor. Remember: you want to give your child meaningful reading experiences with books that make them connect with certain characters, books that make them think, feel and learn big messages and take aways. Books should have purpose… and picking quality reading material and exposing children to creative books will only encourage and inspire them as readers and writers! There are also great books for decoding, fluency and building phonics/language support such as: BOB Books and Guided Reader packs. You will be able to place ALL February orders by 2/28.

Some recommendations are:

Fly Guy series, Henry and Mudge, National Geographic kids, Pete the Cat, Amelia Bedelia, Flat Stanley, A to Z mysteries, Judy Moody, I can read pack, Days with Frog and Toad, LEGO nonfiction, The Water princess, Be a Friend, Globe-Trotting Reader Pack, My Weird School Series Reading Fun Pack, David Shannon Pack, Peppa Pig Adventure, Junie B Jones Troublemaker Pack, Be Creative Pack, The Dot by Peter Reynolds, Ada Twist, Scientist, Secret Coders Graphic Novel, A Boy called Slow, Sofia Martinez: My Family Adventure, I survived pack etc…

Museum of the City of NY (MCNY) Urban Grid Planning Workshop Trip:

ALL 102 chaperones who would like to accompany us on our trip –  next Monday, Feb 6th are welcome to join! Please meet us in the school lobby at 9:15 and bring your own lunch! Families: please make sure students eat a hearty breakfast, dress warm and have a lunch/water bottle, if you haven’t checked off for a school lunch to be provided. We will have a lot more trips, if you can’t make this one. Thank you in advance to those who will join, I always appreciate your humble kindness, support and collaboration. I know we’re a rambunctious bunch! If there is one thing I remember from my childhood, it’s when my mom came on class field trips with me!
