K002 – Week of 3/27/17

We had a wonderful time on our field trip last week.  We enjoyed a marionette puppet show telling the story of “The Remarkable Mr. Puss in Boots.”  It was based on a European literary fairy tale about a cat who uses trickery and deceit to gain power, wealth, and the hand of a princess in marriage for his penniless and low-born master.  Everyone was excited to see the characters come to life in puppet form.  We were all surprised when the giant ogre appeared on stage and engaged the students in the audience by including them in his search.  Click here for some pictures from our day!
Last week, we also finished up our How-To Writing Unit by publishing our books.  We added a cover and title to our books and made sure our books would be able to teach someone the steps needed to do something.  We came together as a grade (K001 and K002) to share our books with friends. Students were very excited to read their books and listen to other’s books as well.  Here are some pictures of students sharing their books.  Stay tuned for our next writing unit: All-About Books!
