Band Concert on June 7th, 2017
Dear Parents,
Our Band Concert is coming up!! June 7th at 6:30, we will all gather at the Seth Low auditorium to celebrate all the hard work and admirable learning our students have accomplished this year in Band on every level, grades 4 through 8.
Please make sure that your child can attend – this is an important event for our young musicians. Younger musicians have the opportunity to be inspired by their more advanced older peers, more advanced musicians have the opportunity to see how far they have come and to inspire their siblings and younger peers, all of our children have the experience of being witnessed and appreciated by their friends and families and the wonderful experience of performing on stage with their ensemble. Don’t miss it!
Over the next two weeks please help your child have the most positive experience she or he can have in band and in the concert by helping to make sure that s/he is practicing every day for at least 20 minutes, that on band days s/he has instrument, book, and any sheet music along when s/he leaves for school, and that you are being supportive and encouraging when your child practices. (Hint: Ask them to play for you and cheer for them uproariously!)
In the Spring children sometimes tell their teachers that they forgot their book or instrument because they were rushing in the morning, or they don’t have time to practice, or they are too shy to perform. You can help make sure that this is not your child. Please be pro-active!
On June 7 all band students should plan to arrive at 99 Avenue P, Brooklyn, NY 11204 no later than 5:30 pm for a pizza dinner, 6 pm gather and prep, and 6:30 start time. We need parent chaperones for 5:00 until 6:30. If you can help, please sign up here.
On June 6 all band groups will be holding a dress rehearsal during regular class time in the BSI auditorium.
