This morning we had another visitor during Morning Meeting: Farzana Mahmud, who’s the mother of three BSI students. Farzana wears a hijab, and she explained to the children why she wears it, and what the reactions of people were when she first decided to wear it at the age of 14, when she was living in Queens. I truly appreciate the gift of their time that Farzana and Barry have given us, and their willingness to share with our children a little of their life experience (the third-grade level version, of course!).
We also have an amazing new piece of technology in our classroom: a solid, high quality, should-be-able-to-survive-even-eight-year-olds, electric pencil sharpener! Thank you to the Bolas/Thoms family for this improvement to our room.
