This week, we went outside and chose a class tree to study and observe closely just like scientists. We brought clipboards, paper and pencils with us to record our observations. We practiced writing like scientists by drawing pictures with details, labeling them and writing down what we noticed. When we came back to the classroom, we added color to our pictures by remembering what colors each part of the tree was. As scientists, we are also working on wondering and asking questions about our tree so we can learn more about it. You can ask your child what s/he wonders about the tree or what s/he might want to know about it. We will continue to study our class tree throughout the year to notice how it changes in each of the seasons.
