Science: Grades 6-8 – Week of 3/26/18

The 8th grade is finishing up a difficult unit on Molecular Genetics which goes into the details of how an organism’s body structure is formed from proteins. We also will discuss the exciting new development in Genetic Engineering of the “CRISPR” technique, which allows genes to be precisely transferred from one organism to another.

The 7th grade is continuing their experiments in Light & Optics by examining how colors are seen and how light affects color images completely differently from paints.

The 6th graders are working hard on learning how to identify rocks and minerals and the differences between them. We will also discuss the Rock Cycle which explains how one rock can “morph” into a different type.
