Hands Are for Holding

Good Afternoon 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Parents,

In an ongoing effort to increase awareness of and address the issues surrounding healthy relationships and bullying the Gibney Dance company was invited back to BSI to present their interactive  “Hands Are for Holding” program to our middle school students. This morning we gathered as a middle school in the auditorium for an assembly to participate in Hands Are for Holding. It is a program that uses dance to address bullying, equity, and choice in everyday interactions.  After each dance, there was an interactive component exploring how the dance illustrates relationship dynamics. Students participated in a call and response discussion, tried on hand movements seen in the dances and some of our students even got to go on stage to participate in the movement activity. Cecilia, Anna, Andrew, Max, Ian, Jillian, and Jasmin volunteered to go on stage to demonstrate two of the “trust moves!”

If anyone is interested in learning more about the Gibney Dance company you can do so here.

Sincerely,

Ms. Moshura
