Dance Room Update – 5/18/18
This week in dance, kindergarten and first grade got to work with a visiting artist from Dance Wave, Inc. in Brooklyn. Ms. Bethany taught a wonderful creative dance class to our youngest students. Thank you Dance Wave!
Second grade is putting the finishing touches on their World Celebrations Dance. Next week they get to share the final dances. And in third grade, dancers continue to explore different math concepts including geometric shapes and telling time. Below are pictures of dance partners investigating “body clocks” and daily activity movement gestures. Each dancer takes a turn showing movement or time and combining the sequence into a dance.
Fourth and fifth graders continue their fundamental dance studies while learning about and practicing unique dance making tools. This week several students finished sharing a dance they made showing “accumulation” and others explored the mirror, shadow, and canon tools. The creativity and imagination that these dancers show each other every week is astounding.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Diane
