The First Week of School in 301

Last week, Class 301 spent time getting to know and re-know one another. On the very first day, students used a Scavenger Hunt to discover how we had all spent our summers. Some students traveled within the state, out of state, and even out of the country. Other students enjoyed simple pleasures such as riding roller coasters and catching butterflies. Everyone was surprised to hear that Ms. Marcy can jump rope backwards! I have enjoyed beginning to know each child as a unique individual. I thought you would enjoy seeing your child in the very first week of 3rd grade!
This coming week, we will be working on the Habit of Mind, working interdependently. Children will work on a STEM design challenge, called the marshmallow challenge. In this challenge, we will reflect on collaboration and the roles that people take on when working in teams. We will be working on listening to each group member’s ideas, and the processes of planning and reflection. This week, we will decorate our Writer’s notebooks and begin to use our notebooks to collect ideas. We’ll also have the Grand Opening of our Library!!!
Looking forward to seeing you on Curriculum Night…
