Chess News from Vlad

Dear Parents,
Our new chess season started last Saturday in Central Park at CIS annual tournament. Please read a recap below from our chess parent Iouri Levitski with beautiful pictures.
The chess program grew a lot over the last year at BSI, reaching almost 70 kids who played for our team and most of them have US Chess Federation membership. I heard chess electives are tremendously popular this year at BSI. We have big plans, many tournaments ahead of us and hope to see new faces.

We would like to congratulate whole BSI chess community with the opening of 2018/2019 chess season and wish all great, challenging, and competitive year full of adventures and fun! Our team keeps growing both intellectually and in the number of dedicated players and supporters. Last Saturday, September 15, BSI Chess Team took a part in 18th Annual CIS Chess-in-the-Park Rapid Open at New York City’s Central Park. We value this tournament very highly because it is the first tournament after a long summer break where players meet for friendly chess games ahead of a competitive season. As always, we would like to congratulate our players with outstanding performance:

  • George Bugayev, trophy in Reserve U1299 section
  • David Moiseev, trophy in Youth Unrated section
  • Elisabeth Bugayev, trophy in Intermediate U1699 section

For all active players and supporters as well as those who considering joining our family of chess enthusiasts we suggest keeping an eye on following important resources:
