Gr2 Blog 10/11/18 Field Trip Pictures
Dear Families,
We had a wonderful trip to the Salt Marsh Nature Center in Marine Park on Tuesday! Our park rangers led us on a hike through the marsh and highlighted some fascinating insects, birds, and fish that are found in the habitat. We explored the idea that the marsh, which can feel like a rural area, is actually right here in our urban community. It is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Enjoy the pictures!
Another exciting thing happening this week is the return of Brooklyn Conservatory of Music! We will be creating music with BCM every Friday for the next 20 weeks. Don’t be surprised if your kids come home humming some new tunes!
This week we are continuing our reading, writing, and math units. In reading we are focusing on reading and understanding tricky words, and increasing our reading stamina. In writing we are drafting our personal narrative stories, with a focus on writing with purpose. In math, we are exploring different types of addition and subtraction story problems.
You will notice that assignments will begin to come home periodically. We will be sending home activities to support the weekly Scholastic News Magazines, and next week your child will bring home two math problems. These story problems are very similar to the types of problems we are solving in class, and will give you a glimpse of the type of work we are doing. Please allow your child to work on the assignments independently. If your child is having difficulty with any aspect of the work, you can write us a note to let us know what your child needed help with.
Have a great week,
Ms. Mathis and Ms. Anne
