Family Friday in 301

It was wonderful to see so many families at Family Friday last week for our Personal Narrative Share! Thank you so much for participating actively, and responding to students’ efforts at writing so positively!
Our third grade writers were very proud to share their hard work. Many students were able to reflect on the process later, and share the progress they had made as writers. Being expected to complete so many revisions of their piece is new to many third graders. Before conferences, I will be grading student writing according to the Grade 3 Narrative Writing Rubric.
This week, writers will also be asked to write a post-unit on-demand Personal Narrative. This means that students will write another narrative piece, using everything they have learned about the qualities of Personal Narrative writing, revision, paragraphing, and editing. This type of writing is important in order to assess what students have learned along the course of our unit, this time, without the scaffold and guidance of a teacher.
Here are some photos of Family Friday…enjoy!
