Gr5-8 Media Literacy – Week of 12/3

December 3rd-9th is computer science week and in celebration anyone, anywhere across the globe can participate in Hour of Code. Students at BSI will enjoy coding varying activities that either encourage them to tell stories, code a dance party, code news, and so much more!

Leading up to Hour of Code and CS Week, Scholastic sponsored Tech4 Innovation student contest for grades 3-7 to “inspire students to solve real-world problems with their own digital innovations.” (Scholastic) While this was not mandatory, nor taught as part of the curriculum, students were given the opportunity to participate. Additionally, Tech4 Innovation included a special prize just for girls to encourage more women to join the tech field. Below are this years entries, all from 4th grade. Stay tuned for updates if any of BSIs young innovators placed in the contest.

Here’s to celebrating the bright, young minds of today for a better world in the future through the use of technology!
