Science: Grades 6-8, Week of 2/3/19
Now that we have returned from our simulated trip to Mars, courtesy of the NYC Center for Applied Aeronautics & Math, we are studying how rockets work. We are starting off by examining Newton’s “Laws of Motions”, particularly #’s 1 and 3, which deal with inertia & the “rocket principle”.
The 7th grade is continuing our investigation into forms of energy and will begin studying how the power of electricity was first discovered. What do you do with a battery when no electrical appliances have yet been invented?
The 8th grade will be ending our rather long unit on the human body by investigating how the cells in our body reproduce and form other new cells, using the process of mitosis & meiosis.
