Dance Room Update – 5/24/19
Happy Spring!
BSI dance students are busy preparing and creating many end of year projects. In kindergarten and first grade, the children are preparing to show many of the fun dances they have learned throughout the year on Friends and Family Day (5/31/19). Second graders are busy creating and performing original scranimal movement sentences.
In third grade, dancers are learning about the choreographic tool of chance dance. Students will be working in small groups to create a dance using this concept. Fourth grade just completed their machine dances using body parts, bases and zones. Next they will be exploring the ABA template using mirror and shadow techniques. Fifth graders are researching different immigrant groups and creating short movement studies based on their findings.
Lastly, middle school students have been exploring the concept of time and meters. We are listening to many different styles of music to identify the rhythm and its timing. These dancers are also finishing up their independent projects to be shared in house at the end of June.
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see many of you next Friday at Friends and Family Day!
