Dance Room Update! 11/8/19

This week in dance, the kindergarten students are exploring the concept of size. And our first graders are discussing pathways in space. Second grade dancers are finishing up their community helper character dances. Next week, they will work as a group to craft a classroom skyline that will serve as the setting for the second grade community dance.

In third grade, students continue exploring literacy connections by embodying action words and punctuation embedded in movement sentences. The fourth graders finished their class mission statement by voting on a dance company name. Their work is proudly displayed for all to see on the dance room wall. Fifth graders are busy creating small group dances inspired by an anti-bullying song called Hopeful. Students are being asked to apply hip hop vocabulary they have learned and practice their collaborative working skills.

And lastly, the middle school dance elective students are beginning to think about their independent dance projects. Students will be learning more choreographic devices by playing dance making games that help to inspire and generate new movement ideas.

Have a wonderful weekend!
