301: Week of 11/18/19

Hello,

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it in for Parent Teacher Conferences last week.

Here is what our class has going on this coming week:

Social Studies: We are continuing our study of culture around the world. In particular we are looking at similarities and differences between cultures. We will do this through the lens of food, holidays, family traditions, etc. It should be a lot of fun.

Math: We are working on the language of ‘groups of…’ and understanding multiplication as combining equal groups. This week we will continue to make visual models of multiplication problems as well as play new math games to reenforce our understanding of ‘groups of’.

Reading: We will continue our work on character. Students will keep noticing patterns demonstrated by characters in their independent reading books in order to form a big idea about the character. We will also continue our read aloud of ‘Because of Winn-Dixie’.

Writing: The class will continue to brainstorm ideas that are meaningful to them. We will eventually turn these ideas into persuasive writing pieces.
