UPDATE FROM THE GYM: GRADES 4-8
Families,
Hope that all is well with you! It was great seeing so many of you last week at Parent Teacher Conferences. The beginning of the school year is always a hectic time with so many days off and different things happening, but we are all finally settling in to our routine.
In our PE classes in grades 4 through 8, we have been focused on completing our NY State Mandated “Fitnessgram” assessments. Our students have been working hard on competing against their scores from last year, challenging themselves and their classmates in their assessments for Pushups, Curlups (situps) and Pacer (endurance test). There have been several students who have maxed out with scores of 80 in the pushup and curlup test, and some students have scored over 90 and even 100 laps on the Pacer test… An amazing feat!
As Grades 4-7 complete their Fitnessgram tests in the coming weeks, we will dive in to our Sport Tournaments, beginning with Team Handball.
8th grade has just completed two highly competitive Team Handball Tournaments, will well played championship games. 8th grade will be moving on to European Handball next.
If you ever stop by a PE Class with Coach Shea, you’d definitely leave the gym feeling the fast pace of the class and pumped up from all the music we play during our classes.
Until next time!
Coach Shea
