Happy New Year!
Hello Everyone!
Tomorrow starts our first full week on school in 2020, here is what we’ve got going on:
Social Studies: We will be continuing our study of Egypt. Our class has learned about both ancient and modern Egypt. We have discussed the food, culture, trade, and economy of Egypt. This week we will be learning more about the geography of the country.
Math: This week we will start our unit on permitter and area. This unit will incorporate strategies we learned about previously in our addition and multiplication units. Students will understand how to analyze and measure two divisional shapes.
Reading: We will be moving into lifting the level of thinking about expository texts. This week we will be reading for significance, approaching nonfiction reading as a learner.
Writing: This week we will start The Art of Information Writing. This is an important unit where we help children become powerful listeners and teachers. Students will get to learn more about a topic and write about it.
***Reminder: This past Friday I sent home a permission slip for an upcoming trip our class is taking:
The third grade classes will be traveling by bus to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Wednesday, February 5th, 2019.
We will be taking an exploration workshop related to different environments around the world. The students will explore characteristics of desert, rainforest, and temperate plants to understand how they have adapted to environmental challenges and support the web of life for other organisms.
