Grades 3-8 ELA Exams 3/25 and 3/26

Dear BSI Families,

New York State Testing Season is upon us. Students in grades 3-8 will take their ELA Exams on Wednesday 3/25 and Thursday 3/26. Students should arrive at school on time both days so that they have time to eat breakfast, use the bathroom, and get settled before directions begin. We like to start as early as possible so that students can maximize the time before lunch to work on the exams.

As in past years, the exam is untimed and any student who is productively working may continue as long as they wish, however, students will not be allowed to work past dismissal time.

New York State expects that most students will work for an average of the times below*:

Students not present for all or some of the testing days will be allowed to make up the test during the make-up window which begins on Friday, March 27 and ends on Wednesday April 1.

Classroom/Humanities teachers are discussing procedures, and what to expect during the test in their rooms. To prepare at home, make sure your child gets a good night sleep before each testing day, and eats breakfast in the morning before school.

If you have questions specific to your child please speak with your child’s classroom or Humanities teacher.

If you have questions about testing in general, you may reach out to me, Liza Sussman, BSI’s testing coordinator, at lsussman@bsi686.org

Also, please mark your calendars because grades 3-7 will be taking the NYS Math Exam Tuesday April 21, and Wednesday, April 22.  This is right after Spring Break, so please plan your trips with this in mind.
