Advisory – Service Learning

Community Service Presentations
During the month of November in Advisory, students discussed the importance of Community Service and worked in cooperative learning groups to identify social issues that they are concerned about. Each group researched and brainstormed ways to help solve a societal issue. Students completed the project by creating a presentation to educate others about the problem.
Community Service gives students an opportunity to explore academic interests connected to real world problems. Due to Covid, most students were unable to execute their project but we hope to follow up in the spring.
Our goal is to embed community service as a core value and practice annually to develop empathy, make positive change, discuss real world problems and teach social responsibility to empower students to be apart of the solution.
Collaborative Skills– problem solving, collaboration, active listening, perspective taking, conflict resolution, valuing diverse ideas, reflection
