Important Reminders

Dear Families,
We hope that you had a long restful weekend. Just a few reminders for the week:
On Monday, October 16, 2017 we will be going on our first class trip to The Staten Island Museum. We will be leaving at 9:30am and returning by 1:30pm. If you plan on packing your child home lunch please make sure it is something that your child can eat easily and does not make a mess. If weather permits will be eating outside on the lawn by the museum. If you have any questions please email us. All chaperones have been emailed already for this trip. If you were not chosen, there are many more to come!
A reading comprehension assignment was sent home on Friday via Readworks.org. About half of each of the classes has completed the assignment. This is a great way to reinforce your child’s reading skills at home. It is a way to practice reading comprehension and introduces them to new vocabulary words. If you have not signed in and completed the assignment please do as another one will be posted shortly. This is also a great way to foster independence and responsibility. .
Below is a spelling list of sight words that your student should already know by this point. This list is comprised of words from kindergarten and first grade that the students should know how to spell without hesitation. If your child does not know these words please practice with them. We will be working on second grade level spelling words and common spelling patterns in class and will keep you posted on the progress.
Here is the list of words:

201-I will be sending home index cards for each student with words that they need to practice based on an assessment that was given in class. Please study these words with your child.
If you have not paid for The Scholastic Magazine or the school trip please do so as soon as possible. If you have any questions please feel free to email us at any time.
