Grade 8 Humanities: It’s A Jungle In Here: Multi-Genre Project Gallery

Is it possible to escape poverty? Or is it just a never ending and inescapable cycle?

Not everyone is born equal. We may all have the same goals, all have the same heart, all share the same biological features, but the life one was born into follows them for the rest of their life. This system of chance, the seemingly unimportant lottery of life, is constantly messing with everyone. There are those born into wealth and those born into poverty. In the case of Jurgis and Ona, bad luck befell them and they fell away from the world of the wealthy. They became one with the masses ignored behind closed doors in a heaven with no windows.

In this project, I worked to show what The Jungle described — how people in power do what they can to keep the “less fortunate” from making any progress in the socioeconomic hierarchy.                                                                                                  — Skyler S.
