Gr2 Blog: Spring Has Sprung!

Dear Families,
It seems as if Spring has finally arrived, especially in the 2nd grade classrooms. Not only are we growing Brassica plants from seeds, we are also growing butterflies from caterpillars. We are taking what we are learning in science and blending it with what we are studying in poetry. We are beginning to talk about the many different types of poetry that there are. We will be focusing on Haiku. Haiku’s are very specific poems and our kids will be able to tell you why this coming Family Friday. Please see below for what will be happening in the classrooms on Friday, April 27th, 2018 from 8:40-9:25:
Since we have been inspired by poetry and our caterpillars we will be creating beautiful Haiku’s to match our Butterflies.
The Butterfly will be made out of card stock and toilet paper rolls. Can you please send your child in with one toilet paper or paper towel roll. They can also bring in items to decorate their butterfly such as glitter, jewels, stickers etc.
