We are Writers!

We published our first book in Kindergarten! This week, we discussed what real writers do when they are ready to publish.  We chose a piece of writing from our folder, added details to our pictures and words, and colored our illustrations, just like real authors do! Then we created a cover by thinking of a title that matches our story and illustrating it. Today, we had our very first writing celebration! We joined together with K-001 and shared our stories in small groups.  We took turns and listened with our “eyes, ears and hearts.” Mr. Havlik even stopped by to hear some of our stories. He said they were “fantastic!” Needless to say, he was not the only one who thought so! I think the kids really felt like writers! Be sure to ask your child what his/her story is called and what it is about.  Our stories will be displayed in the hallway for Family Friday next week. We hope to see you there!
