Update in DANCE! 10/26/18
This week our youngest dancers are learning about how level and size can affect movement choices. And in first grade, they are putting their finishing touches on a size sandwich dance using the ABA template.
Second graders continue working collaboratively in small groups to build a skyline that uses both shapes and transitional movement. The third graders shared their creative ideas about action words and movement sentences.
In fourth grade, the dance students discussed the meaning of values. Next, they will be creating gestures and small movements to represent their ideas. Fifth graders performed their chance dances and will be moving into a new unit investigating language arts and dance. The fifth grade dance elective students are thinking about levels and the mechanics of a body changing levels at different speeds. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade dance students continue to explore the fundamental dance element of relationships. Students are working in pairs to demonstrate their understanding of these ideas by creating a short duet dance.
Have a wonderful weekend!
