FAMILY FRIDAY HUMANITIES AGENDA

9:20 – 9:30 Energizer + Latin America Geography Riddles (Mix and Mingle)

9:30 – 9:45 Literature Circles (Student Led)

Inquiry Question: How can talk deepen (student) comprehension of how books work?

Family Member’s Role: Silent Observers/Researchers taking notes (mentally or by writing) what students say/do in their book talks (students in groups of 4). Discussions are completely student led. Family members are not allowed to interject or speak until the end.

End of Literature Circle Reflection: Family member will articulate in 1-2 sentences by naming and noticing what the students have talked about/how they added to each others’ ideas/understandings.

9:45 – 10:05 Let’s Play: Interactive Humanities Game(s) Design! 

Students had to apply Humanities Learning to design/construct a game. Inspired by the Institute of Play

Our game is called Luza Paluza, the Ultimate Inuit Survival Game. Players will learn about Inuit tools and animals in the Arctic during the early ages. – Abigail F.
