Dance Room Update – Week of 10/18/19
Dance Room Update
The youngest dancers at BSI continue to explore movement in various spaces as they begin to work with partners. And in first grade, students are beginning to understand the difference between size and level. In second grade, students are thinking about community helpers in our neighborhoods and how these characters may be depicted with movement. The third graders are focusing on verbs or action words and composing short studies showing movement in sentences.
Fifth graders are reviewing their hip-hop technique in preparation for their choreographic work coming up in the next few weeks. This week in class, they compared ballet to hip-hop and noticed all the similarities and differences. Our middle school dance elective students discussed relationships and the connections between body, space and time. These dancers are working in small groups to show choreographic skills and devices learned including unison and canon.
Have a wonderful weekend!
