It was wonderful seeing and meeting most of you during Parent Teacher Conferences
School conferences are a great opportunity for the parent and teacher to share important information about your child. This time can be beneficial in helping your child succeed in school. As always, I am available to answer any question on transportation or to lend a helping hand with any support needs.
If there were any parents that missed parent/teacher conference please contact your child’s classroom teacher to arrange either a phone conference or appointment time to discuss your child’s progress.
After the conference. Follow up. Stay in touch with the teacher. Talk with your child. Stress the positive things the teacher said and talk about suggestions for improvement. Plan with your child how to carry out these suggestions.
Dismissal
Friendly reminder that ANY daily dismissal CHANGES will need to be submitted before 1:50 PM.
Recess
Cold days are slowly approaching with the temperature fluctuating. We are asking that all students dress appropriately for the weather each day. Outdoor recess is strongly encouraged here at BSI and low temperature shouldn’t be a barrier for outdoor play. Per the chancellor’s regulation, “Because children benefit from vigorous exercise, they should be given the opportunity to play outside whenever possible. Unless it is snowing or there is ice on the playground, low temperatures should not be a barrier to outside play, as long as children are appropriately dressed. The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene strongly encourages principals to maintain outdoor play periods on the vast majority of winter days.”
Students can continue to sign up for lunch clubs.
If a student signs-up attendance becomes mandatory. Students eat lunch in the cafeteria and then come up to the respective classroom for their club activities.
