Welcome Back!
I hope you had a wonderful Spring Break! The class shared their Spring Break adventures this morning. Some children traveled within the US or outside of the US, while others enjoyed a “Stay-cation”!
This week, we will be administering the NY State ELA exam on Wednesday and Thursday. The most important way you can support your child is to to get your child to bed promptly, starting tonight, so he or she can be well rested for the test. Also, make sure your child has a nutritious breakfast on the days of the exam (and always!) Try to check in with your child, making sure to listen to and validate any fears, worries, or anxiety. Help your child put the test in perspective. This test DOES NOT DEFINE your child! This is just one way that your child is assessed this year. Make sure your child knows that his/her other qualities and traits are more important. It is so much more important that your child is kind, is a good friend, a great big sister or brother, has a sense of humor, a sense of adventure, is silly or sensitive, is honest and true…and countless other ways your child is AMAZING! Wish them luck, kiss them, and just tell them to do their personal best.
Tonight your child will bring home his/her Multiplication Fact Assessment from before vacation. I am so pleased with the growth I’ve seen over time- it is evident that children are working hard to commit the facts to memory. You do not need to return the assessment. The next Multiplication Facts assessment will be on Friday, April 20th.
Upcoming Dates:
