Welcome November! 11/1/19

Welcome November!

So much rhythm and choreography in the dance room this week! Fall is in full swing as kindergarteners try out the mirror and shadow technique using their new understanding of levels in space. And first graders are applying their knowledge of size to the ABA sandwich dance template. Second grade students are busy creating their character dances in small groups and next week will will finish building their class community dance.

In third grade, students are embodying action words in movement sentences that showcase various beginning choreographic skills. And our fourth grade students used their most important artistic values to draft a dance class mission statement. Fifth graders have started choreographing a community dance inspired by anti-bullying.

And lastly, the middle school dance elective students finished up their short studies exploring balance, off- balance and counter balance. This week there will be a review and assessment of concepts learned followed by an introduction of independent dance projects.

Have a wonderful weekend!
